Spring into Action 2015 Projects: 

 Read by Example  

Duffield Children's Center at 101 Fleet Place in Brooklyn
Volunteers shared their favorite book with children at our Early Learning Centers, by reading aloud in our classrooms. The volunteers also donated a new copy of the book to the program, for the children to read and enjoy independently.

Green is the New Black (Coney Island) 

BCS Coney Island Community Center at 1702 Mermaid Ave. 
Volunteers helped BCS give away 100 free trees to Coney Island residents, worked with local youth to create unique 'Curb your Dog' signage, and prepared for an April planting by measuring and marking tree beds.

TLC Urban Garden, Glenmore St between Williams Ave and Hinsdale Street in East New York, Brooklyn.
Volunteers helped prepare our urban garden for Spring. Assisted with weeding, planting and general garden upkeep.

    Positive Pulse

MetroClub PROS at 25 Chapel St.  
Volunteers promoted health at a wellness celebration for our program for adults with mental illness. Maded healthy snacks, stress balls, participated in aerobic fitness and yoga.

    Empowering Young Leaders 

BCS Coney Island Community Center at 1702 Mermaid Ave. 
Volunteers made a difference in a young person's life. Speed mentor students at our Coney Island Youth Stand Program. Speed mentors shared their road to success and discussed obstacles they've faced.

  East New York Economic Empowerment

East New York Clubhouse at 2697 Atlantic Ave.
Volunteers helped facilitate financial literacy at our program for adults with mental illness. Worked with individuals on sample budgets, helped our presenters set-up, and aided in the preparation and distribution of free lunch.

Tender Loving Care at TLC (a shelter for women)

Transitional Living Community at 116 Williams Ave.
Volunteers helped the women at BCS' shelter feel beautiful with make-up, manicures and aromatherapy. 


Bowling with BCS

Melody Lanes Bowling Alley at 461 37th St. in Brooklyn
Volunteers cheered on, and bowled with, BCS's very own bowling team. Our team is made up of adults with developmental delays who participate in our Recreation Program and bowl every Thursday at Brooklyn's Melody Lanes. 


No More Couch Potatoes!

Volunteers lead fun and engaging physical fitness activities for elementary and Middle school-age kids in our after-school program.
