Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service

BCS developed the Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service with the New York City Department of Education and New Visions for Public Schools to address the growing crisis in the City of young adults dropping out high school and becoming disconnected from school and their communities.  In 2008, DOE estimated that there were nearly 140,000 of these youth in New York City, many of whom reside in Brooklyn.

Our mission is to provide a student-centered, challenging and personalized educational experience that empowers over-aged, under-credited high school students to obtain their high school diploma and become fully participating community members, leaders and lifelong learners. We work with students to provide planning for post-secondary success, either through college or a career.
