Fostering Self Sufficiency in Adults

We know that having a disability doesn't preclude having a quality life; and that with some targeted support, adults with mental, physical and developmental disabilities can attain happiness and self-sufficiency.

Most new BCS clients undergo a 15-day vocational evaluation, and based on their needs they may move into a program for job training or job placement.  We offer job training in a variety of areas, including retail, food services and maintenance.

Once they have completed the training, we help them find and keep their jobs.  For some people, employment is not likely or realistic due to multiple disabilities or significant delays.  For these individuals, we offer day programs, such as BCS Atlantic Achievers for adults with severe developmental delays, or the BCS Project Moving On program for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.  We know that with some support, adults with disabilities can, and do contribute in a positive way to society.
