Brooklyn Community PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services)

Who Are We? People know us as BC PROS. We assist individuals in recovering from the disabling effects of mental illness through the coordinated delivery of a wide array of group and individual services that empower each person to better handle "real-life" situations.

People come to us to work on symptom management and functional independence. People come to us to learn and practice skills around achieving self-defined milestones.

  • Entitlements Counseling, plus connections and advocacy with resources throughout NYC
  • 24 hour on-call emergency consulation
  • Prescription and injections on premises
  • Customization of care for young adults and seniors
  • Paths to education, housing preferences, and community supports
  • Needs-driven balance of verbal, creative arts and evidence-based therapies
  • Addictions treatment including: smoking, gambling, over-eating, substance use, etc.
  • Computer based Cognitive Remediation services for people seeking employment
  • "Family'' Nights for participants who wish to involve people they are close with in their treatment
  • Job preparation, placement and ongoing rehabilitation and support at one's job site

At BC PROS, you partner with our experienced and credentialed staff to work on functional improvement and moving on in areas such as:

  • Reducing hospital visits by increasing use of community based health services
  • Increasing potential for success with education, training, or employment
  • Becoming more knowledgeable about symptoms, medications, and coping strategies in order to better manage those symptoms
  • Building supportive relationships with friends and/or family
  • Complying with, and becoming free from, court systems
  • Replacing isolation with socialization
  • Managing anger and stress

 

Eligibility Requirements:

(1)  18 years of age or older
(2)  have an Axis I diagnosis
(3) Believe some degree of change is possible
(4) Respect the need for a recovery environment to be free from disruptive acts
(5) Willing to select then commit to groups connected to life goals.

BC PROS is primarily a Medicaid reimbursed program.
