Brooklyn Community PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services)

BC PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) assists adults who are recovering from any disabling effects of mental illness. We deliver a wide range of group and individual services that empower each person to better handle "real-life" situations.

BC PROS provides individualized recovery planning, support with housing or educational goals, stress and anger management, computer-based cognitive remediation for people seeking employment, entitlements counseling, addictions treatment (smoking, alcohol, substance use if secondary to a mental illness), and many skills development opportunities.

At BC PROS, members partner with each other as well as with our experienced and credentialed staff to work on functional improvement in order to reduce hospital visits, increase use of community supports, improve wellness, and achieve self-defined milestones towards a more independent lifestyle.  Clinical services with us are optional. People who do chose to come to us for clinic services will get basic health screenings, symptom monitoring, and (for psychiatric medications) prescriptions and injections on premises.

Eligibility Requirements:
Potential participants need to meet the following admission criteria:
• 18 years of age or older
• have an Axis I psychiatric diagnosis
• have functional barriers due to severity and duration of mental illness
• be able to attend an individualized schedule during weekday hours
• intend to achieve a personally defined "life goal" as a result of PROS
