For 160 years, BCS has partnered with our neighbors to build a stronger Brooklyn, driven by solutions created in and for our communities.

Welcome to Brooklyn Community Services

BCS operates 50+ award-winning programs across 28 Brooklyn locations, serving more than 14,000 neighbors each year. We work with Brooklynites of all ages to expand opportunity, strengthen stability, and help communities thrive.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that support can look like a listening ear, a safe space, a trusted program, or a community that shows up. 💙
In her May Message, our Executive Director Archana Jayaram shares how BCS continues to support Brooklynites with care, connection, and dignity every day.
✨ BCS STAFF SPOTLIGHT! ✨
This month, we shine a spotlight on Nahshon Outten, a teacher at PS 156. Mr. Outten has been with BCS for three years and is an asset to both his fellow teachers and the students they serve.
What lesson does Mr. Outten hope to leave with his students? “One lesson that I hope my students carry with them is the importance of the who, the what, the where, the when, and the why (5 W's). Information is important, and I hope, if nothing else, they think about this long after they leave my classroom.”
Thank you, Nahshon, for the incredible work you’re doing at PS 156, and to all the teachers who work so hard to make sure our students are prepared for the future. At BCS, you’re always appreciated.

This week, we’re proud to celebrate the Clubhouse Week of Action—a nationwide effort highlighting the power of the Clubhouse Model in supporting mental health recovery and building stronger communities.
At BCS’s Greater Heights Clubhouse, this work comes to life every day. Through connection, purpose, and shared responsibility, members are supported in building routines, developing skills, and creating a sense of belonging.
As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that recovery is not something anyone should navigate alone; it's a community effort. 💙
