Welcome to Brooklyn Community Services

BCS operates 50+ award-winning programs across 28 Brooklyn locations, serving more than 14,000 neighbors each year. We work with Brooklynites of all ages to expand opportunity, strengthen stability, and help communities thrive.

This week, we proudly celebrate and recognize all of the Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in the Services for People Living with Disabilities Division. DSPs are at the heart of our work, providing dedicated support, compassion, encouragement, and advocacy to the people we serve every day.

Their commitment goes far beyond providing services. They help individuals build independence, pursue their goals, participate in their communities, and live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Their patience, kindness, and dedication make a lasting difference in the lives of the people we support and their families.

Thank you to all of our DSPs for the important work you do each and every day. Your contributions are valued, appreciated, and essential to our division and to the people we have the privilege of serving.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost and forever changed on September 11, 2001.

Like much of New York and the tri-state area, Brooklyn was hit hard, with many families and neighbors carrying job loss, grief, and mental health crises in the days and years that followed.

In our commitment to serve in great times of need, BCS stepped in to help our fellow Brooklynites, providing roughly $9.5 million in programming over the next five years. However, twenty-five years later, that loss still lingers throughout our community, our city, and our nation.
